My 2018 Escalade has started shifting rough, especially going from second to third, and sometimes there's a thump when it downshifts coming to a stop. It's got about 120k on it and I've never had the transmission fluid changed, which I'm now realizing might be the problem. The dealer quoted something ridiculous and said they'd need to keep it for a week to diagnose, which isn't happening. I've been searching around and found affordable Cadillac gearbox repair in Sharjah that seems to handle these 8 speed units specifically, but I want to know if it's worth trying a fluid and filter change first before assuming the worst. Has anyone had similar symptoms and fixed it with just a service, or does hard shifting on these always mean something internal is worn? Trying to avoid a rebuild if I can, but I also don't want to waste money on a fluid change if the damage is already done.
